What is MEMS

The word MEMS is an an abbreviation for Microelectromechanical Systems. Any system or device that measures between one micrometer and one millimeter can be included in MEMS. Applications of MEMS technology include components that go into inkjet printers to airbag deployment system in automobiles. The field of study of MEMS has evolved into separate discipline of its own including physics, and engineering.
